Why?

Many small communities in Anne Arundel County collect and treat their own sewage with privately-owned treatment plants. These decentralized systems struggle to meet today's needs and are currently not designed for Enhanced Nutrient Removal technology, which this program would provide. They face significant barriers to meeting the County's water quality goals, including:

• Limited Financial Resources
• Geographically Dispersed Populations
• Retaining Qualified Operators
